Third Down and a War to Go

The Tuesday afternoon Art Class at NWTC, taught by Cheri Martell has a display of art work at the Library this month. Area residents participating are Kathy Johnson, Ron Murray, Mae Adams, Nancy Sleeter, Anita Peterson and Carl Manikowski. Examples of the teacher's work are also displayed. Come in and see work by our talented residents. Speaking of art, this month in the display case are spring and fall photos of Steve Bacon. If it is happening at school, Steve is shooting it. The end of March, the Friends of the Library will be hosting a Rummage Sale for a fund raiser. So start putting aside any items that you may wish to donate Some new bestsellers that we have received are Plum Lucky by Janet Evanovich, Blood Dreams by Kay Hooper, Blue Heaven by C.J. Box, Shadow of Music by Julie Garwood, Bleeding Kansas by Sara Paretsky and The Shooter by W.E.B. Griffin. Third Down and a War to Go by Terry Frei is a new book from the Wisconsin State Historical Society Press. The Wisconsin State Historical Press is starting to gain national attention for the quality of it's recent titles. (Private Soldiers; A Year In Iraq with the Wisconsin National Guard is a recent release from them). Third Down and a War to Go is about the nations' number third ranked 1942 Badgers football team. After the football season ended, they scattered and served our country in War. The recounts of these boys defines what a true hero is. Cherie B. is leading our Story Hour. She has many exciting ideas and crafts. If anyone has some leftover items from craft projects that you don't know what to do with, please consider donating to the Story Hour Program. We are looking for paper, glue sticks, eyes, pipe cleaners, or anything cluttering up your house. As always, check us out at the Library
